Top Tips for an Unforgettable Proposal

Engagement

‘Tis the season for marriage proposals! I’ve put together my top tips to help you pop the question!

The Ring. If she hasn’t dropped any hints on her preferred style, chances are her favorite rings are saved to a Pinterest board! Do some investigating! Ask her best friends. Once you’ve purchased the ring, don’t forget to insure it! Keep the ring in its box when transporting it to the proposal location so you don’t misplace it. If you want to go above and beyond, The Mrs. Box sells the PRETTIEST velvet ring boxes!

The Location. After picking the perfect ring, where to propose is your second biggest decision! When choosing a location, consider: Where was your first date? Where did you ask her to be your girlfriend? Is there somewhere special that you two go often? Time of day is important too! The light about an hour before sunset makes for the most romantic setting and beautiful photos.

Speech.
Now that you’ve settled on where to pop the question, let’s consider HOW. No need to prepare a lengthy speech – chances are she’ll be so caught up in the moment that she won’t remember all of it anyway. Focus on talking about how you feel about her, how you want to build your life with her, etc. And if nothing else, a simple “Will you marry me?” works just fine!

Hire a Photographer. I may be biased about this one, but this moment deserves to be captured beautifully! Your proposal will be a blur of emotions and excitement in your mind, so having photos to look back on is so important. The right photographer will capture your moment discreetly from afar and then appear on the seen after you’ve popped the question to capture a few “just engaged” portraits! Trust me, this will win you ALL of the brownie points!

Celebrate!
Have some champagne on hand to celebrate and then surprise her with an engagement party afterward with your closest friends and family!

I hope this helps you plan the perfect marriage proposal! If you used any of these tips, I’d love to hear about it! We all know I’m a sucker for a good love story. And if you have any other proposal advice, please drop it in the comments below!
